The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries. To accomplish these activities, the Administration works with Federal, State, and local enforcement agencies, the motor carrier industry, labor and safety interest groups, and others.
Activities of the Administration contribute to ensuring safety in motor carrier operations through strong enforcement of safety regulations.

Each state has its own Commercial Driver License Manual and drivers should always use their state’s manual to prepare for the knowledge and skills testing. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is responsible for keeping people safe on America’s roadways.
Through enforcing vehicle performance standards and partnerships with state and local governments, NHTSA reduces deaths, injuries and economic losses from motor vehicle crashes.
